Thank you for allowing us to motivate the application for assistance with funds for our outreach programme.

One of the elements of The Irish South African Association is promoting Irish Arts and Culture abroad.  In June 2014, the ISAA launched an initiative to identify a group of underprivileged children and sponsor them to take Irish Dance.  At that point we shared the cost of funding this with the Catholic Welfare Development.  We also had funds being donated by an independent member of our Association.  Last year CWD advised that the funding would be halted for an unknown period, additionally, our generous donor retired and returned to Ireland.  The ISAA set about sourcing other means of funding and we were fortunate enough to be donated 2 x return tickets to Ireland by Club Travel, which we auctioned, raising enough to cover the budget required for 2015/2016.

We are now at the end of those resources and need to secure finances for the coming year. Attached are the figures and requirements for the programme to continue for the next year.

We are very proud of our little troupe of dancers.  Most of the original group are still dancing.  They attend their lessons diligently and are dedicated to their practice.  They are hitting their targets and progressing through the levels, entering competitions and taking Eistedford exams.  Their school has had them perform and they take great pride in being the stars of our annual flagship event, St. Patricks Day which is attended by The Irish Ambassador.  As with most underprivileged children, their options for hobbies and interests are limited.  The children have embraced this program wholeheartedly and to halt it due to lack of funding would be a terrible pity.  We have watched them grow over the last four years, not only physically, but emotionally also.  They have gained confidence and focus and have seen the results of commitment and practice.  The instructor at Dance Trax studio is fully committed to continuing to teach on the same voluntary basis she has done to date, but transport, exam fees and costumes all require funds.

We would be honoured to be considered for assistance with funding to continue our program for the dancers for the year ahead.
